Butyl-S Sepharose™ 6 Fast Flow
- Butyl-S Sepharose 6 Fast Flow* designed for purification of relatively strong hydrophobic molecules at low salt concentrations.
- Useful for removal of strong hydrophobic contaminants, such as lipids, lipoproteins, pigments etc from biological samples.

Butyl-S Sepharose™ 6 Fast Flow
Technical Information
Butyl-S Sepharose 6 Fast Flow is the least hydrophobic medium in the Fast Flow series for both research and industrial applications.
Elution profile obtained after HIC of a concentrated crude extract of miraculin on a tandem column of Butyl-S Sepharose 6 Fast Flow coupled in series to Phenyl Sepharose 6 Fast Flow (see licensing information regarding purification of miraculin using Butyl-S Sepharose 6 Fast Flow at back of catalog). This arrangement has the advantage that the weaker HIC adsorbent (Butyl-S Sepharose 6 Fast Flow) effectively bound the most hydrophobic plant pigments without binding the miraculin. This prevented damage to the capture column (Phenyl Sepharose 6 Fast Flow) by the plant pigments, which bind to it so strongly that regeneration is difficult, if not impossible.
