- Specificity:
- The monoclonal antibody is directed against the CD38-antigen, which is strongly expressed plasma cell. The CD 38-antigen is expressed at variable levels on the majority of hemopoietic cells, prevalently during early differentiation and activation. Reacts with the 45 KDa type II single chain transmembrana glycoprotein, the cellular function is positive and negative regulator of cell activation and proliferation, depending on the cellular environment and it is involved in adhesion between human lymphocytes and endothelial cells.
Disease relevance of CD38: Leukemia phenotyping and classification. Monitoring of HIV-1 infection and progression. Targeting of immunotoxin antibody in the treatment of myeloma.
